Man this game's soundtrack is fucking mint. Like, we have the Latin chanting and sombre organ of the chapel and waltz of Orlox's quarters and then that funky organ in the Marble Gallery to the bass grooves in the underground cavern here. Every bit of it is amazing. And we haven't even hit the clock tower yet!

I thought this episode where we get an implicated history of Alucard would have been a good time to point out his strong similarity to another fictional character, Vampire Hunter D. I'm 100% sure you know this already but in short, both are half human/half vampire sons of Dracula clad in black with beautiful almost feminine physical features wielding swords as their main weapon. Have Igarashi or Furukawa ever mentioned how close these characters are? Sorry if this is addressed in a future episode. Thanks.

Oh!! Upon re-watching this series (its really good by the way, damn. Nice work), I just realized this:
I am pretty sure that the Scylla wyrm fight, followed by the room with rising water leading up to the proper Scylla battle, is a reference to a similar moment in Castlevania 3.
In level 6, the sunkern city of poltergeists, the level boss is a flying bone serpent, somewhat similar to the scylla wyrm (like a boss version of the bone snake-dragon enemies you see through the whole series), but it flies away and escapes before you can finish it off. You chase it to the right through the next few rooms, which feature short platforms and rising water. You then climb to a level above, and continue your chase of the boss to the left, where you finally fight the proper battle and finish off the serpent. Had not actually realized this until watching this video again!
The pillars holding up the platforms in the SOTN room even have a kinda greek marble column look to them, which is the visual style of that area in Castlevania 3, and those same pillars are also holding up the platforms in the Cv3 room itself.
(also, might not be a coincidence that Scylla is a monster from Greek mythology, and the level that inspired this moment of the game is the sunken ruins of a greek city?)

One note - the videogame trope of a succubus impersonating another character was first used in Tower of Druaga where the character "Succubus" impersonates the goddess Ishtar. Also, the dialogue where Succubus realizes Alucard is Dracula's son is extremely similar to a moment in Vampire Hunter D when Count Magnus Lee realizes D's true identity. Would bet money it's a reference to that.

I may be reaching here a bit, but the Bandanna may be a reference to Metal Gear series which is also licensed under Konami. MGS and SotN would have been in production around the same time I believe. Also the ferryman is also in Norse mythology, he goes by several names but notably Habard (as seen in tv series Vikings). He is believed to be Odin in disguise.
