Happy New Year, 新年快乐, and all that. I prerecorded some content this year to get it out on time in the event that I didn't roll Makura early, and, well, let's not talk about how that's gone so far.
Schrodingers forming the core of the grid is much better than the Epic series nonsense that these setups used to run. Characters weren't getting boosts from significant chunks of the grid back then, so unboosted defense/HP isn't even a compromise compared to Schrodingers in other off-element grids.
Cidala fit perfectly into the setup, with utility like stacking debuffs/cancelling Black Spear, a substitute for turn 2, and generally being able to take advantage of the meter being generated. Galleon's Jaws were a cheap way of getting extra damage out of them - 800k supplemental is in the ballpark of 1/3 of their ougi damage.
This could have conceivably been done with no MC; last year's NY setup was built around just Vajra for damage with Colombas and a water Opus as the backbone, and there are enough dispels to clear the whole buff stack at 50% (Andira 4, 2x Vajra + Andira ougi, Cidala 1). The difference is that Beelzebub takes a lot longer to kill; this was close enough as is with MC also doing ougi damage in addition to being a meter engine, so cutting her wouldn't have allowed for no refreshing.
Don't mind the auto cap key. I was being lazy.
Tower is for Cidala; having low HP and higher hostility from their passive in conjunction to less HP from the grid and no form of evasion means they take a bit of a beating. Andira dodges on ougi so she takes no damage.
After the three frontline characters who need to ramp take enough turns to finish up, it plays a lot like a normal ougi comp, just with lower damage than what we've been used to in the past year or so. Sustain was fine, too; if anything, I could have gotten away with cutting the second Grand Order aura for Beelzebub just to go faster. That extra 50% defense just wasn't all that important.
As miserable as the big picture may have been, 2022 was a productive year on a personal level. Can't say I care for everything that happened in Granblue in this period, but life goes on and all that. The power gap between the astrals and SUBHL is a real wrench in the works as far as content plans go, unfortunately. If you've been around to watch blue man getting beat on for another year, I appreciate it, and hopefully everyone's having a good one out there.
