Hope you enjoy my stop motion video on this Takara Tomy ZW45 Zoids Wild Burning Liger kit! A lot of time and effort were spent, especially on the straight build segment. The reason why I do stop-motion is so you can see the full details, articulations and gimmicks instead of my hands blocking the figure most of the time.
Profile of the Burning Liger Zoid:
The Burning Liger is a Lion-Type Zoid with a closed cockpit. Compared to other Zoids in the Zoids: Wild series, it is an M-sized Zoid. It weighs 42.0 tons, stands 3.9 m tall and is 9.2 m in body depth. Its maximum speed is at 215km/h. Its weapons include Laser Fangs, Blow Claws, Two-Barrelled Beam Gun (2), Sawed-Off Shotgun (2), Small Retractable Missile (2), Retractable Guided Missile (2), Hide Missile Pod (2), Whip Tail and Burning Liger's Core Drive Weapon: Impact Gatling. Other equipment are the Guardian Shell, Z-O Visor, Mane Protector, Power Cylinders (4), Power Axis (14) and Dual Sensor.
My review:
This ZW45 Burning Liger is my first Zoids Series model kit. I like the idea of not needing to remove the parts from runners which saves a lot of time when building the kit. The downside is you will need to identify the specific parts using the instruction sheet as the similar coloured parts are packed together and all are not numbered. There are also bad factory nub marks on some parts. Other than these issues, the overall build is fairly simple with parts snapping on easily and this Burning Liger Zoids figure can be completed in about 10-15 minutes.
The assembled Zoids Wild Burning Liger looks great with some fine details. Vents, cables, hydraulic pistols and various grooves were all moulded nicely. Painting is not required but I would prefer to give this kit a metallic red paintjob as it does look plasticky and toyish.
The articulation on this ZW45 Burning Liger kit is limited, only its jaw, lower mane and tail are articulated. I wish it has more moveable joints which does not hinder the moving gimmick.
Speaking of the moving gimmick of this ZW45 Burning Liger, I think it’s a fun feature and I am pretty impressed by it. It would be cool if other companies can include similar feature to their model kits like Takara Tomy. There are 2 modes to switch from for this moving gimmick. Lifting the head up will allow the Burning Liger to open its mouth repeatedly while walking, whereas lowering its head will stop the jaw motion. It also has an openable cockpit to put in a small translucent pilot figure.
I did regret not purchasing the ZW46 Zoids Wild Burning Liger Core Drive Weapon: Impact gatling as I initially thought it was included with the ZW45 Burning Liger kit. When attached to the Burning Liger’s back, the gatling barrel will spin as the zoid walks.
Overall, I am satisfied with the details and gimmicks of this ZW45 Burning Liger kit and it is pretty affordable too. I would definitely recommend this Takara Tomy ZW45 Zoids Wild Burning Liger kit to any Zoids fans out there.
