This meticulously restored to concours level Cobra Jet coupe stands out in it's factory Candy Apple Red paint work.This rare collector Mustang Muscle car was filmed at the 50th Anniversary Mustang Celebration in Las Vegas April 17 to 20, 2014.

can you say sleeper? not as good as yesterdays imo, but this is still a damn beautiful mustang. it's hard for me to like these old coupes because they just don't do it for me but the ones you have shown are really growing on me ( the coupe you're restoring is included ). anyway this is yet another great video, your camera work is getting better and better, keep it up.
speaking of camera work, are you using a new one? the quality looks much better in this video.

  David, I do like the 68 coupe better but that was a GT, this thing was clearly ordered to drag race. I am not a big fan of the 69-70 coupes either but I like the unusually equipped and in the right colors. I think this video is benefiting from good lighting as this is shot with my same JVC Enviro I have been using for about 8 months. Practicing on visualizing the end product while I am filming. I know most will disagree but I really dig the black cluster with the tach, I realize most people like wood grain but "imo" the black looks freaking great, especially with this red interior ( I also really hate red interior ), well I did until you uploaded a video of a raven black mustang with red interior, honestly that car looked great with it. I have no idea which one it was, will try to find later.

side note: when you are out if you ever come across a 71 Ranchero SCJ, I would love for you to get some video of one. my grandfather had one and it was my introduction into the world of big blocks, yes there are videos of them on YT but I like the way you do your videos and I would love to see one from you.
just so you understand why I really appreciate your camera work, watch this guys video. I really wanted to see this car and what could have been awesome was ruined by shoddy camera work, I get no ones perfect but this type of video is why I feel so strongly about your channel growing and why I will do anything I can to help that along. comment after you watch it so I can delete this post, I'm not about to help this guys channel by leaving a link up to it.

I own a super nice 3,900 mile "R" code 4.30 C-6 SCJ/Drag Pack Fastback in Candy Apple Red. It is a plain wrapper, also. It runs mid 13's in the 1/4 mile with 1.98 sixties. Show and Go! Did Not want a 4 speed for the track on factory tires.

I know of another car like this one in red and 428scj,4sp.Owner has had it from old days when he raced it never been cut or butchered ,and has had it in a barn for last 20years.One day wants to sell next doesn't been playing games for so many years..Shame car should be redone and brought out into the light like this one.

  When I was 19 in 1969, a Ford mechanic named JC Williams in San Augustine, Texas bought an identical Mustang to this one, can't remember if it had trunk mounted battery. This car pretty close to 14.00 completely stock, but he modified it to NHRA D/Stock specs headers, race clutch, flywheel, scatter shield, slicks, and traction bars. We went to the drag strip together, I had a pretty much stock 340 swinger Dart. He asked if I wanted to make a pass in the Mustang, and I jumped at the chance. He said leave at 4000 and shift at 5500. It pulled the front tires about 6" and clicked off 11.80 at 120mph. Fastest quarter I've ever run. JC has passed away, but I last talked to him in 2000, he still had the car, but wasn't racing it anymore he was about 80 years old at that time. It's out there somewhere!

A few beginner questions today. By ram air you mean the shaker hood right? Did you say layer SCJ or did I hear it wrong? Did all the SCJ cars come with those valve covers as stock?

  Yes the ram air is the shaker set up. It is a Super Cobra Jet yes, no most Cobra jets came with stamped steel chrome "powered by ford" valve covers.

  What is the word you used in the video because it's unclear? "It is a ________ SCJ....". Powered by Ford is cool too. Have you seen any other 69 cars with SCJ stamped valve covers? Were these valve covers a custom order fulfilled by Ford? Thx.

Nice ride and rare! I had a 69 SCJ GT Coupe, ordered new in Philadelphia, Oct 68 and received Dec 68. When I ordered the car, I did get the drag pack option. When the car arrived(I worked in a gas station across the street), I went over and expedited the delivery. I took the car back over to the gas station and we noticed the Battery wasn't in the engine compartment, but in the trunk. I went over to the dealer and talked to the sales person about this, he could not find anything, anywhere indicating 'Trunk mounted Battery'. So fast forward to 2008. I have a friend that is one of the moderators on the Boss9 forum and he knew about my car. Well a question came up about other cars that had ' Trunk mounted Battery'.   wow that is one unique R code to be sure. These little coupes were the lightweight sleepers of the 69-70 generation. Amazing one had a trunk mounted battery.

  Had to be a mistake is what we think, being an early run car. Since Jeff had checked Kevin Marti's and found there was one 'other' car with a trunk mounted battery and it was a coupe. I wish I knew where it was now.

This car is hyper-rare. In the past 10 years, I've only seen (1) other 428 '69 Coupe. It was a Black-Jade rust-free body, in somebody's backyard, for sale on Ebay.

  Yes , these are rare, there was just a Q code '69 GT white on red for sale in San Diego, no motor or trans for 10k. If I didn't have so many things going on I probably would have snapped it up. Nothing on par with an SCJ coupe though, love this particular car.

Wow, thanks for the awesome video of my car, it was in pieces when we got it less then a hour from where it was originally sold, I call her Roxy because she would rock when she was finished, we laughed at the car seat in the back but we took it around the race track and they said nothing about her in the back seat, it's a great video, not many 6 year olds get a chance to drive the Las Vegas Speedway, as for the valve covers I have both sets, we had to take it to Vegas and drive the strip, great site you have
