[SNES] Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium (Human Entertainment, game, 1995)

May The Google Be Your Friend!

You guys may be aware of such an awesome game as Fire Pro Wrestling Returns for the PS2, but not everyone of you knows what was before it, thanks to the ridiculously small amount of the overseas releases (and X360 is gonna get a really CAAAAASUAL one, I must admit). All in all, Fire Pro Wrestling series were the only one in the whole friggin' Milky Way galaxy to actually make such a great concept as Create-A-Wrestler *evolve*, after the crappy WWF King of the Ring on the NES suggested an idea of taking a Yourself character out from WWF WrestleMania Challenge and allow the player to change his name and stats.

Despite some think the object of this video (SFPWX) is the first game to include in-depth CAW creation mode, there was at least 3 more games on SNES from these series to do this (yes, I've checked it), although none of them have such amount of appearance customization as this thing. Not to mention the amount of slots for the created wrestlers, which whoops Yuke's games' asses even today: from a decent amount of 12-16 acres of free space, Premium has 80. EIGHTY. I SAID EIGHTY. Yeah, that's sure ahead of what you thought could be possible on SNES, right? Well, apart from RPG Tsukuru games.

Knowing I love games where you can create something (if you're not given a bunch of presets), be it a character or a stage (ave Battle City!), it wouldn't be a surprise that after the previous Fire Pro vid, I would make this one. For the first battle, I pit my Triple H wannabe-CAW against Tiger Jeet Singh. And despite Hunter knows how to do Pedigree for sure, his AI (yes, if you are surprised, you can even customize the wrestler's behavior, since SFPW3) wasn't great enough to nix his opponent. For the second match, I pit the legends of American wrestling, Hogan and 'Taker, against the legends of Japanese puroresu: Super Delfin (I swear, the way the fans translated his name is Super Odd) and TAKA Michinoku, with the first somehow managing to win the match by countout. And, last but not least, a little demonstration to all ye CAW makers of what you can do in this game's edit mode. If you are a Fire Pro fan, most of the stuff should be self-explanatory.

What else I can say about this game? Well, I just love it. As much as Returns and G. There are things that make it distinct and, in some cases, better than both of these games. Like, you may not immediately notice it, but whenever a wrestler does a cool move, the audience keeps photo'ing it. Not to mention the color commentators sitting at their table, one keeping silence for some reason and another one being, perhaps, too much mouthy (WWF Raw had something similar, to my memory).

Oh, and no, no, no, these are not Botchamania captions you just saw here. Really. *LIES*
