I really appreciate you talking about issues like this, and I can only agree with your opinions about this bizarre "mascot" thing.
It's quite sad to see that no matter how good an actress is, or how long she's been in the industry, she still is just reduced to her appearance and everything else is mostly secondary, which is quite unfortunate for the women who want to be acknowledged for their skills.
Instead they have to participate in involuntary beauty contests with peer actresses and deal with mass-hate for their every move.

I quite enjoy critical videos such as these, hope you do more of them!

Wow, this goddess thing sounds like a nightmare both for the actresses and their fanbases. First time I've heard about it, so thank you for making this kind of videos! You always say that these videos would be more useful for Chinese viewers, but I think they also help foreigners like myself understand some aspects of Chinese culture we would never hear about otherwise 🙂

Although it is probably worse in East Asian countries, Americans are really not very different in terms of having narrow beauty standards and being very judgmental about appearance. (The beauty standards may vary slightly from East Asian cultures, but again, not by much.) I don't have the means to compare, but Americans can also be pretty petty and vicious towards each other in comments sections, and in needlessly pitting certain celebrities against each other. Conversations over here about the negative aspects of this culture are perhaps more prominent, but it still seems to have had relatively little impact. I had no idea about awards shows in China, so this was a very interesting video.
