I took some time on stream to discuss the recent announcement that the Hearthstone Esports program is being gutted, and what that might mean for the future of the game itself.

I stopped watching their esports after the blitzchung incident. I know quite a few other people who lost hope in blizzard after that happened.

I don't know about if what I'm gonna say applies to your region.. But here in Spain fireside gatherings are disabled from when covid appeared until now... Fireside gatherings where a way to have a tiny opportunity of promoting into bigger events (I classified to the European tournament on 2018)... Fireside gatherings were at least my personal window to Hearthstone Esports, not only for participating on them also to hype me up and watch them.

This is the silly thing, esports is not marketing. Its creating an additional tool to keep your most invested consumers interested and caring about your product and also demonstrating a that you care about your most dedicated consumers. ITS A RELATIONSHIP, one that keeps current users invested. Its a retention program.

I think if hs doesent change their cost of the game further the game will go down, its sad i was an avid casual that spent some good money on the game, i stopped playing in the mercenaries expansion after i got 4 legendaries i didnt care for and vowed not to play this game until they make it so the 60 dollars i spend give me access to all the cards of the expansion

As a mobile player I don't wanna watch a 30 hour stream. Heck I don't even play for more than 1-2 hours at a time. For that reason I find Marvel snap so much easier to slot into a day than hearthstone.
