Role lock looks to be a lock, perhaps to OWL first, but it's a necessary requirement to give us Role Queue, Role based SR and balanced gameplay across all tiers of play, including the pro meta where DPS are barely playable options. That being the case, we may be seeing an earth shattering new limitation imposed onto the game by Stage of the Overwatch League that forces a 2-2-2 role distribution. This will allow for a LOT of heroes to be playable at the top meta again, but at the same time will destroy a few others careers. The good news is, that Rein Zarya Lucio Roadhog Brigitte etc, who were basically un-buffable due to how it would further damage the meta, can now be buffed in order to compete WITHIN their role, with no worry that they can cross over to compete for DPS slots instead. We all want Overwatch to highlight all 3 roles, so this looks to be a good thing for gameplay, a few tweaks will be needed to get a handful of characters into fighting shape in the new system, but overall its looking pretty good!
