This will be the 9th part of this series.
P2W? Leveling? Really?
Do you believe boosters that makes one leveling faster is considered P2W?

Paying for convenience essentially. Closest thing to "P2W" we have at the moment is some of the receptors (like Divine) since those were locked behind spending on the AC support scratch.

pso2 is in a really weird spot of not as p2w as something like Black Desert, but also not as "clean" as subscription based games like FF14.

It definitely has its p2w parts, like selling scratched stuff for meseta that could be used for affixing (tho with cradle now I doubt anyone would want to).
Grand prices are also quite high on the market on jp, so I guess scratching and selling for meseta helps.

That said, everything affix/ gear related are obtainable by grinding, and its not too bad compared to some other games like Diablo, POE, Warframe etc.
Even stuff that are usually only obtainable with premium currency (costumes etc) are buyable on player market.

Imo pso is more of a pay-to-win-faster type of game like Warframe, where everything is obtainable by grinding, but paying would obviously make the process much faster.
Which is very understandable, $EGA aint charity and it needs to pay the devs and the electricity bill kekw
It's F2P done right if you ask me.

The only "true" p2w that pso has is weakness drink prem, get that shit outta here.

I call PSO2 "pay to advance" (I don't like "pay for convenience" because marketing uses that too much lol). Specifically: If two players start and put equal effort into the game except for paying versus free to play, if the paying player ends up more powerful, than it's pay to advance. PSO2 is pay to advance: a premium playing spamming bonus keys would be level 100 while the free to play may be level 94, at least according to the wiki's EXP chart.

My "pay to win" definition is more like you can automatically get the "you win" screen or be placed at the top of the player charts just because you paid even if you didn't spend any time to learn the game. Games that do this are the browser or mobile games where there are $USD 500 items that make any of your opponents (whether PvE or PvPers who didn't pay as much as you) get one-shot. (...then your $USD 500 gets one-shot by the $USD 2500 pay-to-win lol)
