The one Balance Patch a Year cycle is over - Street Fighter 6

So we had another installment of Capcom TV and while there was no dlc or character announcements or anything like that for street fighter 6, there was important news from takayuki nakayama the SF6 game director himself, the 1 patch a year cycle is over!

Its not a lot of news, but its kinda important news if you have been following along with this whole crazy Street Fighter 6 thing. The infamous decision for only 1 major balance patch for the first year of SF6, that won't be going forward come Season 2/Year 2 of the game, simple as that. I much prefer having gameplay changes be only once or twice a year. It's insane to me seeing Tekken 8 players say "well Jun just got nerfed after the game being out for 3 months so I'll just stop playing her until the next update in 2 months where we already know she's getting buffed." I'm not a fan of that system at all, especially when fighting games are all about learning and the information is subject to change every 6 weeks.

I think it was a mistranslation. He didnt mean there will be more than 1 patch per year, he meant it will be more than 1 years between patches.

I just started playing again with the patch, I got fed up of lily being so vulnerable to rushdown characters. Everyone knew from week 1 that her defence was horrible and Capcom let it rock for way too long hopefully we'll see more proactive balancing going forward.

I was still playing sf6 pretty frequently before the akuma patch

Honestly I prefer the lengthier patch cycle. In one region where I played, the status of JP went from strong to weak (really!) to strong to insane to godlike, when nothing has been changed about him. When the first patch on JP hits, he went from Godlike to unplayable to playable to strong in matter of days, again only with one patch. Same goes for Juri, good to bad (Not knowing how to deal with Guile) to good to Unbalance (CPT Winner!). It has led me to realize I hate knee-jerk reactions far far far more than slow patch cycle.

Good, I'm glad the 1 balance patch a year thing is no more. Hopefully, with Year 2/Season 2 of SF6, they will add more DLC characters to the slate and shorten the time between each one.

Just a diferent perspective as a casual I watch your patch video not because I became more interested in the game and more because I want to know did the combos that I had a hard time learning stop working?do I have to learn a new combo?the pokes that now I have a muscle memory will get me punished more easily ?that kinda of thing. Yeah SF6 need it more patches I agree but I hope its not Tekken 8 level of every patch something became entirely different.
