Week 1 down! Things are starting to open up on the old Bard and Arcanist jobs!

IF you thought the company or heros was slow NOW.. do know it had more quest a year ago. They shorten that plotline quite a bit. so yeah. It used to be WORST LOL.

  @Cobrak LOL you have no idea xD. But yeah. It had WAY more quest in it. But when we got new game plus they also shorten alot of ARR. So it goes faster then it ever did. Also if you want buttons to press on early classes... play monk. :O it's a Melee.

Oh trust me, level 80 bard you’ll need to manage your song buffs, your Heavy Shot (Later upgraded to Refulgent Arrow procs), your Pitch Perfect stacks, your Damage over Time, your Bloodletter procs and your Soul Voice gauge. And this is with people considering Bard being one of the “easier” jobs in the game.

Level 40 Bard is just the tip of the iceberg... Don’t even get me started on one of Arcanist’s advanced jobs, Summoner. Literally has a 2 minute rotation all with pressing 2 Off Globals in between GCDs while managing DoTs, your Pet, and your summon trances.

And you have to do all of that while doing mechanics being thrown at your face.

I recommend joining the Balance Discord if you wanna learn more about your jobs. It’s a huge discord filled with job guides from trusted high end players.

In later expansions the "nodding in cutscenes" bit actually gets mentioned by the NPCs too. They also see the player as the overly silent, enthusiastically nodding type.

Akhmorning and saltedxiv are both good resources. If you wan't to delve deeper, you can always join the Balance discord. Until you hit 70+ you don't need to really worry about stats or materia at all though.

It's perfectly fine to leave professions behind if you want to, but if you want to bring them along it works too. You'll find it hard if you level them past your main job though, as you need resources and such from areas you haven't unlocked yet. One thing of note though is to pay attention to the profession quest stories; the ones in the base game are some of the best storylines the game has to offer outside of MSQ.

Stat priorities and materias aren't important at all until you hit th endgame. You basically need to wear the equipment that gives your main stat the most. Str for melee dps, Dex for physical range dps, and Int for magical range dps. For tanks, watch your Vit (hp). For healers, it's Mind (bigger heal & damage)

And yeah, that's exactly what I complained to my friend: "We are going to fight a goddamn Titan and they sent me to find cheese for a fricking banquet?"

On the note about jobs being like warlock, it's kind of weird because while arcanist/summoner is definitely closer to warlock in gameplay, I feel like the themes of the class lean more towards mage with their very scholarly approach to magic using geometric shapes and math and research and stuff.

On the flipside thaumaturge/black mage plays as more of a magey analogue, but thematically it seems way more warlock, with their base feeling almost cult like and their magic being more dangerous (even to themselves iirc) and stuff.

Started leveling Marauder (18atm)want to see if the Barb tank is as fun as i hope. If not i'm probably going to be looking into a healer class 🙂
