We returned to Ahm Araeng clueless as to how any of this would resolve - Thancred, Minfilia and Minifilia... My god. I am so god damn happy with EVERYTHING right now.

When I did it the first time I felt like this part dragged; on playing it the second time I realized it was a way for you to connect more deeply with Minifilia and Thancred but it still stands out as being perhaps the only time the story pacing slipped. I get what they were going for, but I think framing it around the trolley and heartstone was a bit more involved than it needed to be.

FFXIV is the only game I've ever played that has made me tear up from both sadness *and* happiness. It's a remarkable achievement is story telling, and I'm so happy so many people are finally giving this game a chance. The story, the music, the characters, the writing-- all work together to make some really incredible moments.

I think the scene with thancred on the ground isn't supposed to make people think he is dying. I think he knows the choice the minfillias will make. And he is mourning the loss of "his" minfillia.

What he mouths at the end is probably something like I loved you or I'll miss you etc.

Not to disservice earlier writing but ShB is really where the Scions feel like a family and it's because of scenes like these.

Like I love Y'shtola but prior to this expansion she feels more like a coworker who works from home 4 days a week.

The amount of character development Thancred goes thru is staggering. When I look at other videos while on ARR and seeing those sprouts criticizing Thancred, I can't help but to laugh how much of a contrast between those two Thancreds.
