This 1969 SCJ Mach 1 Mustang in Gulfstream Aqua brought top dollar at Barrett-Jackson's March 2021 Auction. Surprisingly absent are power disc brakes and power steering. This car was meant to go drag racing and clearly was at one point in it's life. The car was restored with a date code correct driveline. Another fine pony sold at Barrett-Jackson.

Lot #1019.1 - This restored 1969 Mustang Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet includes the Drag Pack option - a performance package that came with Traction-Lok differential, 3.91 or 4.3 ratio axle, engine oil cooler, cap screw connecting rods, and modified crankshaft, flywheel and damper. This 428 SCJ was built in San Jose and shipped to a Ford dealer in Washington. At some point while racing, the car blew a slick that launched it into a guardrail at full speed. The result was a rolling hulk with the original roof, firewall, floorboards and trunk lid. The body panels were replaced with either new old stock or top-grade reproductions. The project was shipped to Thoroughbred Restorations in Oklahoma City for completion and the period-correct Ford 428ci V8 FE engine was rebuilt by Keith Craft. Other repairs and maintenance have been performed by Classic Automotive in Austin, TX. For running and starting purposes, a Brawler carburetor and electronic ignition were installed (original parts are included in the sale). This car was given the name "Cinderella" and was written about by independent automotive journalist Steve Magnante in his Barrett-Jackson-posted article dated October 1, 2018. As ordered from the factory, it came with 4-wheel drum brakes, 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission, 428 Super Cobra Jet engine with Drag Pack (after 2/20/69) and Ram Air hood, Traction-Lok differential, F70x14 traction tires with raised white lettering, AM radio and tinted glass.
