I know an old friend who is Indian married to Pakistani man. Her husband was a womanizer, cheater, mentally and physically abusive to her. He would beat her daily and her in laws helped him abused her too. She would always wear a head scarf and sunglasses to work. She called in sick to work if the bruises were visible and severe. She had broken ribs, broken arms, broken nose. Then one day, she never showed up at work. Someone said that her husband and his family moved her and her kids back to Pakistan where her husband's family were originally from. She was my former coworker and friend. It has been 23 years now since the last time I saw her. I pray that she's doing ok and well.
