WTF is a Runestone? Battlegrounds going PAY TO WIN??

Blizzard just posted some Battlegrounds news about the new season, and it's unfortunately got some really big new concerns baked into it.

The monetary change to BG doesn't really affect me, personally, since the 650-2500 gold was too much for me for the benefits. That doesn't change the fact that now people that don't want to play wild/std essentially have no place to spend their gold (nice job, Blizzard).

As for the quests, it seems like a pay-to-throw system unless the quests can be catered to previous picked quests or dependent on your board state. It'd be dumb to have to play 4 Nagas if you're playing Quillboar or have to play 20 minions when you have maybe 3 turns left in the game

By moving the battlegrounds stuff to their own rewards track. Hopefully we get more rewards for standard on the hearthstone tavern pass.

This is an obvious move by blizzard where they table a decision that's so clearly bad that everyone freaks out. After the initial pushback from the community Blizzard tables the change they truly intended to put in place. Everyone pats themselves on the back for getting Blizzard to "change their mind" and Blizzard gets to profit, claim good will because they listened and the average consumer is none the wiser.

all blizzard had to do is but some of the runestones into the pass. like you get 100 per pass would still be better than nothing.

The main reason companies do the currency thing isn't actually to scam you, that's just a side benefit thing that usually happens, the main reason mobile games do this is so they don't have to get google and apple approvement on every single item they sell in the game(also cuz google and apple take a cut), because with the currency it makes it so that the only thing you buy through the google and apple stores is the currency itself and therefore they can freely add whatever purchases they want in the game faster.

It's going to be extremely predatory and then in 8 months theyll revert the changes and give everyone some scraps of runestone to buy something for free (to get them using it) and everyone will praise blizzard for doing good

This sucks. I've tolerated blizz for too long, this change makes me never want to open up battlegrounds again. I don't care about skins, boards yadda yadda, but splitting the player base like this is just shameful.
