Blizzard just released the details for their latest patch, which brings some balance changes to Standard, Battlegrounds, and Duels.

Im hoping they add some new content to duels sometime, it's my favorite mode. it kinda feels like there's a steady meta now and i wish it was more zany

Caverns Below was insane with rogue. They were able to cheat out 5 really easy sparkbots and then their one cost cards that they got from the hero power just made it insane to get through.

Removing the runes from the death knight cards, while makes it easier to slot in different rune DK decks, it means 'discover X rune' type cards can't discover them

Scargil was used with Clownfish and Gorloc Ravager to cheat out a full board of powerful murlocs as early as turn 4. It also drew you into your Flurgl/Tox which made the highroll almost unbeatable

People've been really breaking Unlocked Potential, building decks around it in warrior and warlock. Same to a lesser extent for Caverns Below. Some sort of change was starting to get to be a really good idea for UP. Especially because warlock can mitigate the downside of Unlocked Potential deckbuilding by having the Forged in the Barrens card do a lot of heavy lifting in the early matches, and warrior get offered the Lava passive a lot.

So, here it is, first time big priest is getting a nerf.
I dont remember when the deck became a thing, but i know it's a problem in wild since, and the only time they touched it, it was barnes, the only neutral card.
Sadly, i already dusted my wild collection long time ago. Because of big priest, as a heavy control player, and if blizzard think imma pay to get it back, fckoff

"Blast from the Past" and "Ivory Rook" are Twist nerfs. Control warrior is top 2 along with discard Warlock and with so many discard cards nerfed they feel the need to preemptively nerf Warrior so they don't become a problem.
Ivory Rook is there mainly to generate both armor and value. It losing 1 health doesn't mean much really.

Scarab Gong. The main reason it was OP was because its mechanic made it semi-immune to board clears since the Gong would generate minions after the board clear resolved. Having it at 1 health soves the problem without changing the cardtext...... untill you find a way to buff its health.

Scargil. WIld Shaman murloc package is a ridiculously good card package. It consists of targeted draw (Ice Fishing, Gorloc Ravager), murloc discount (Scargil, Clownfish), board clear (Flurgl + Tox), hand disruption (Mutanus), Hand shuffle (Sir Finley, Sea Guide). That's 8 murlocs and 2 spells that have excellent synergies with eachother and the cards themselves individually are really good. The package is typipcally played in Shudderwock Shaman and is almost an auto include in slower shaman decks. ShudderShaman while not strong now because the meta is really fast. Used to be tier 1 during slower metas and really sucked to play against (the ultimate hostage deck, locked you out from playing the game). All the wild nerfs have been targeted at the top wild decks. So targeting the shaman murlock package preemtively to avoid it becoming too strong after the wild nerfs.

Oh Big Priest. Shadow Essence is still it's enabler. It's still the card you fish for in muligan and with Illuminate. Big Priest is not a good deck in Wild. But it's good enough to shit on all the non meta decks and see decent play rate and you know it creates one sided games where only 1 person is having fun in a 2 player game. So this nerf is 100% warranted because it is so unfun to play against Big Priest.

Kabal Lackey. Secret Mage is still that thorn in Wild that always is somewhat relevant and sucks to play against. I'm positive no one enjoys playing or play against this garbage deck. Only the bots like it. Eat a bag of dicks secret mage.
