I got asked this and I wanted to actually do a video about it.
Short mode info: In MHF ZZ update Tonfa short mode deals 30% less damage but actually inverses hitzone values.
I went to Howling Zino repel (with overlay in true HP mode and no armor with only with evasion 2) and each hit in the edge of the tail did 40 damage. With short mode, the damage was 44.
In a claw, the damage was 77 in long mode, in short mode was 76.
Can be used for heaven and extreme if you guys want, but tbh, do not bother, hit the same zone and let point breakdown do it's job.
More I did not mention:
In heaven each red stack is +100% blue recovery rate, is slightly higher than Extreme.
Damage bonus of Heaven applies to attacks, basically a hit that would do 100 will do 130 (If you have hidden, 125 without it).
I mention Heaven is harder to pull of, both styles are easy to play, yet very hard to master, however I if you really want to dominate ground style, you will use Combat Supremacy.
