Overwatch: The Power Creep Problem - What Can Blizzard Do?

Power Creep is here to stay, we can no longer escape it, it would take far more work to unravel the mess now and instead I think it would be best to gracefully navigate the power creep in the most fun/effective way. Some of it has been a success, so hopefully learning from those victories Blizzard can continue to improve the balance state of the game. Power Creep is arguably worse today than it was a year ago when I begged for it to cease. Now they're too far in, they might as well LEAN IN and enjoy the ride!

The game is still fun, so it's probably best to just keep adding interactions to attempt to wrangle the mess together

  Yep, I've been thinking the same sort of thing for years, at this point. A character that struggles to find an effective role needs some interesting strength or interaction added. Steadfast is indeed a perfect example, for addressing reasons Rein was feeling unplayable. Hog, I don't know. He wears a gas mask and has lots of insulation, so make him resist most stuns and freezing. Something.

  Buff and buff things is not the way to go. One thing is certain some heroes should never have so value just by existing.
  Mei should not be oppressive to all tanks. And miss positions.
  Ashe should not charge ult while Bob is on.
  Ana is fine.
  Brig shouldn't have so much value for a hero that does not require aim.
  Bap should have ult and immortality field trade. Immortality should be an ult and his matrix be another skill with high Cooldown but a bit lower damage.
  Dva is in an odd place she is stronger as she even was but still not meta neither oppressive enough by herself. Strong in a dive comp but other then that not do much.
  Doomfist should have less shield from his passive 12% less
  Echo 12 bullets should make a better balance for her.

  Also to throw him off this comment here's a fun nerf for Orisa and change to Brigitte. OK, so for Orisa her primary fire projectile speed is slowed to how they were at launch (I think they sped this up at some point) but, she gets a cooldown ability which speeds it up again for a few seconds. I think this is a definite must do Jeff *wink* and now for Brigitte. Which is less important since she got reworked as well as all stuns getting nerfed.
  So her Shield Bash ability is replaced with (what I have coined personally) Shield Flux; where if she has her shield, it flashes then she leaps forward with it raised and as she jump her shield is invulnerable. The ability acts as a movement ability, as least doubling the distance that Bash covered and during it the shield is larger, so it can better block front coming damage.

  Leaning into PC would just tilt people. At lower levels a Hog hook buff would be ridiculous, it shouldn't be treated as a given. They should nerf most of the heroes. I know they could never delete some of them, but it's a shame that that's the case

I personally think they should stop thinking about the lower skill levels and focus on the higher skill levels because that’s where you see how the hero is actually used to their full potential but in lower skill levels they make it easier for the players who have low game sense and bad aim. In general, looking at lower skill levels to decide buffs or nerfs ruins the game and results in power creep.

Hey do you all remember when bastion had the highest damage output in the game and was brought down by downsides to compensate for it mainly the removal of all movement while in sentry mode.
And then new characters where released like echo and ash who have potentially higher damage output, utility, mobility and incredible ults

I think that if they would just rework Brig so she can still be a good pick but not be a MUST, would fix everyone’s problems. I’m a Brig main and I love her as a character, however I see the issues that people have with her and I understand (most of the time, unless they say something idiotic) why they have a distaste towards her. All I ask is that if you’re going to go for doing more work on Brig, don’t bring her to the point of being unplayable.
