Soldier's recoil rework came with a major tradeoff, losing the forging close range spray, losing some up front damage but gaining the potential for perfect mid and long range accuracy means that Soldier 76's counters hit him harder but his own plays when he aquires a high ground angle are more reliable, more akin the likes of Widowmaker and Ashe who have dominated the ranged hitscan position particularly at higher tier play.
