NGS introduced a very fun class in Slayer and it made me want to revisit its original form as Luster in PSO2; finally got around to d999 Masquerade after leaving him on d500 early in ep6. Here are two casual Luster runs: my first clear and attempt where I was playing recklessly, then a followup run I did later the same day that uses no food buffs, takes fewer risks, and doesn't get hit at all. Luster is an incredibly high skill ceiling class for optimization and it's fun to scratch the surface of that. Slayer may be incredibly fluid among NGS' classes, but Luster is in a category of its own with how snappy both movement and attacks can be - all those Stay Flechettes you can sneak in between counters add up fast!
It's more efficient to stay on Fomel style the whole fight but using Zandi style and some cheeky non-element weapon action spam is amusing. Zandi WA3'ing the clones was also completely unnecessary since you can take them down with Luster Time Finish alone with enough power; it just feels nice to blow them up and also demonstrates how to deal with them if you're undergeared (throw in a purge at the end for good measure).
I could've stuck to his core more and also missed several opportunities for counters; if you're exceptionally precise, you can get tons of extra counters off of the homing arrows, orbs, and ground spikes. I'm content with these as a demonstration of just okay play. Even with my unoptimized gear (missing about 300 atk from affixes, timed abilities, and food, let alone the second run being more like 450 behind), perfect RNG and play would shave off at least 30 seconds.
This was more or less the last thing I wanted to achieve in legacy PSO2; doing this felt like a nice celebration of the good times I've had with it. I'll still boot it up for the occasional fun EQs or CM of course. Here's hoping PSO2 NGS continues to improve!
